Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (ot.mn) – A second Mongolian employee from one of our contractor companies has passed away last night. The individual was one of two who were receiving medical care in Ulaanbaatar due to a non-work related incident, which occurred at the Oyu Tolgoi mine site on December 16.
Oyu Tolgoi sends our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. Out of respect, the name of the individual will not be released.
The remaining hospitalised employee contractor is currently in stable condition and continues to improve.
It is believed that the employee contractors drank an alcohol-based intoxicant the previous night outside of working hours.
Oyu Tolgoi is cooperating with a police investigation. There is no evidence of foul play or violence.
