The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Drill and Blast in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground – Technical Services department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 14 days off.
The purpose of this role is to provide engineering services and support on drill and blast activities of the organizational unit in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team’s objectives and targeted plan.
What the role entails
- Design drill plans for production drilling activities and all on footprint production related development
- Design blast passports for production blasting activities and all on footprint production related development
- Perform pre-blasting analytical assessments to ensure that blast passports are safe, efficient and in alignment with industry best practice, company standards and procedures
- Work closely with production operations personnel to provide technical support to all production drilling and blasting and relevant development activities
- Provide technical input into production and development drill and blast technical and operational planning systems and processes
- Analysis of production data to drive continuous improvement of drill and blast systems and processes
- Support the Senior Drill and Blast Engineer in ensuring compliance to C8 and all other relevant company standards and procedures relating to drill and blast activities
- Perform regular audits of explosive and blasting equipment, operations and infrastructure to ensure best practice and alignment to Mongolian Regulations, CRM and relevant company standards and procedures
- Carry out in field inspections of underground drill and blast operations as part of the quality management system for drill and blast
- Carry out in field blast monitoring as part of the quality management system
- Provide in field underground technical support to drill and blast operations and routine inspections of active working areas to ensure drill and blast designs are fit for purpose
- Other duties as required by the Drill and Blast Technical Services Team
What you will need for this role
- University level education in Mining Engineering or Equivalent tertiary qualification, Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universitie
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
- 3D computer drafting software such as AutoCAD, Vulcan, Surpac, Deswick or similar
- Microsoft Excel and Office suite skills
