– Oyu Tolgoi donated 80 million MNT towards improvement of the living and study environment of children –
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Oyu Tolgoi co-implemented a project to renovate and upgrade buildings at the 'Unur Bul' Child and Family Development Centre and 'Amgalan Complex' Secondary School in Bayanzurkh district as part of its social investment commitment. In 2013, Oyu Tolgoi donated 80 million MNT towards improvement of the living and study environments of children. The project has been successfully implemented and commissioned now. During the commissioning ceremony, S.Erdene, Minister of Population Development and Social Welfare said in his speech he is confident that living and studying in nice facilities will provide the conditions for development and learning of the children who are the future of Mongolia.
Oyu Tolgoi regularly extends its hand of support to vulnerable and needy groups that require care and help through its social investment projects.
D.Tulga, Oyu Tolgoi’s social investment manager said, “Our social investment projects demonstrate that the Oyu Tolgoi project activities are not only limited by mining. We make significant contributions to cultural, social, and economic programmes that impact the development of Mongolia, and we are inspired by their results.”
B.Burmaa, director of the 'Unur Bul' center said, “Thank you to the national authority for children, Oyu Tolgoi, and Ulaanbaatar Rotary club for the nice facilities provided to the children of our center. Our children will study successfully and return your kindness.”
Ulaanbaatar Rotary club acted as project implementer. As a result of this work, the 190 orphans and needy children between the ages of 2-18 that live in the 'Unur Bul' centre and 2,400 pupils and 180 teachers and staff at the 'Amgalan Complex' secondary school can live and work in convenient and clean environments. Oyu Tolgoi employees are also happy for the contribution to the healthy learning environment of the children.
