Press release: Oyu Tolgoi contractors fully ensure safety

– Certificate presented for safety recognition

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Oyu Tolgoi has made significant intellectual investments by spending a total of 110 billion MNT (US$85 million) on Mongolian workforce training programmes. The programme funding are the largest of their kind in Mongolian history. Within the framework of this effort, three standard technical schools will be built throughout Mongolia with four additional vocational training centers expected to undergo full scale upgrades.

Bats Urguu LLC is currently constructing one of the standard technical schools in the Nalaikh district in Ulaanbaatar. Yesterday, company experts along with Steve Garcia, Executive Vice President of Oyu Tolgoi, visited to present a certificate to Bats Urguu LLC for attaining full safety compliance as well as 'at heights' safety certification.

In his remarks to the workers, Mr. Garcia said, “We are happy to be cooperating with this outstanding Mongolian company. Safety is our first priority. We are grateful that your company ensures safety at all times.”

J.Batsaikhan, Director of Bats Urguu LLC, noted “Our company achieved 70,000 man-hours without a time loss incident. To date, we have 127 workers. We prioritize safety and fully comply with the requirements and standards of Oyu Tolgoi. We are expecting to hand-over a high quality facility on schedule”. 

The standard technical school in Nalaikh district is expected to be commissioned by August 2013.
