Press release: Hard pavement road under construction in Khanbogd soum

– Oyu Tolgoi LLC constructing new paved road –

Umnugobi, Mongolia – Last year, Oyu Tolgoi LLC built a 10 kilometres gravel road in Khanbogd soum of Umnugovi aimag. This work is now continuing and another 5 kilometres long road is being paved. The road construction work was carried out by state-owned company 'Avto Zamiin Tonog tohooromjiin Turees' with financing and support from Oyu Tolgoi LLC. The contractor company began road construction on 2 October, with 26 pieces of equipment and 46 staff.. They also hired eight local residents to complete the work. The road meets all relevant Mongolian road standards. Work is continuing according to the plan and it is hoped that there will be no delay due to weather conditions. The road should be complete by mid November. In September, Oyu Tolgoi signed a Cooperation agreement with Khanbogd soum. Under the terms of this Cooperation agreement, five large projects will be undertaken with support and funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC. The new hard road in Khanbogd is one of these projects.
