Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – The Mongolian Ministry of Labor launched a “Labor Sector – Seven Days” event which was inaugurated at Chinggis Square in Ulaanbaatar today. The event is being held as part of the month-long campaign on labor safety and health. Some 50 business entities and government agencies too part in the event, including also Oyu Tolgoi where safety is a core value.
B. Alimaa, Head of the Labor Relations Regulatory Department at the Labor Ministry said: April 28 has been declared the World Day for Safety and Health at Work by the International Labor Organization. This is the third year the Labor Ministry is celebrating the World Day launching a nation-wide labor safety and health campaign. We are happy to see that the mining, road and construction companies, where labor safety hazards are higher than other sectors, are taking an active part in the campaign. Oyu Tolgoi’s presentation today on safety procedures and compliance has drawn a keen interest. Safety is most important for everyone which ever sector they work in. Therefore, we must take care not only of our safety but also the health and safety of people around us.”
