Oyu Tolgoi to help Mongolian youth to get world-class knowledge and training

As outlined in the investment agreement, the memorandum of understanding signed between Oyu Tolgoi and Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and training program of Oyu Tolgoi, the company developing one of largest gold, copper mines of the world in South Gobi, launched student scholarship program in order to support students majoring in mining engineering, mine operation, natural environment, scientific and technical and natural sciences. Oyu Tolgoi is sponsoring study of 120 students in Mongolian universities and 30 students in international universities under the Oyu Tolgoi student scholarship program.

On top of this, Oyu Tolgoi opened opportunity for students majoring in the above disciplines to intern in the company in order to make significant investment in Mongolian education sector and help practical and theoretical training of qualified and skilled personnel and create jobs.

Currently, from the students interning in Oyu Tolgoi, Enkhbold Enkhtaivan, 3rd course student of Otgontenger University has been selected as Best Student of “Alma Mater-2011” annual best student recognition and award ceremony organized by Mongolian Youth Federation. Every year, traditionally, annual best students are selected from about 70 outstanding students nominated from various universities of Mongolia according to criteria: academic achievement of minimum 95% score point in three consecutive quarters and done outstanding works in economic, social, medical science, linguistic, technological fields, active social participation.
