The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Superintendent Emergency response team in our Health, Safety, Environment and Security Department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with roster 7 days on and 7 days off.

The purpose of the role is to be the Primary Technical Lead to ensure a professional emergency preparedness and response to all emergency incidents by providing effective and efficient firefighting and technical rescue services at the Oyu Tolgoi.

What the role entails

  • Provide professional leadership to Oyu Tolgoi mine surface emergency response team, underground mine rescue team and Kanbumbat airport rescue and firefighting teams
  • Responsible for the planning, organization, procurement and operation of facilities, tools, equipment and mobile machinery for surface surface emergency response team, underground mine rescue team and Kanbumbat airport rescue and firefighting teams
  • Support management in implementing and ensuring compliance with the Business Resilience and Recovery Program and Underground Mine Emergency Standards
  • Develop and maintain emergency management plans, emergency response procedures, and other related documents.
  • Development and implementation of Oyu Tolgoi disaster management plan
  • Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto and Government audit requirements and standards
  • Planning and implementing emergency team training and exercises, strengthening the skills of all team members and monitoring ongoing performance
  • Establish and maintain stable relations and cooperation with relevant government agencies
  • Effective collaboration with other internal stakeholders through efficient communication
  • Collaboration with emergency response teams from other Rio Tinto Product Groups and projects

What you will need for this role

  • Minimum five (5) year experience working in emergency management agencies or safety, firefighting and emergency response disciplines in mining sector.
  • Knowledge in risk management, emergency management, disaster management, business resilience and recovery
  • Experience in development and implementation of emergency management policy, procedures, plans and protocols.
  • Knowledge in relevant law, regulations, standard and norms.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skill and be a teamplayer.
  • English writing and speaking skill at an intermediate or above level.
