The opportunity
We are looking for one ( 1) Senior Engineer Electrical and Instrumentation in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Concentrator Maintenance department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 14 days on and 14 days off. This is 1 year fixed term role.
The purpose of this role is to lead, plan, organise, train and provide systematic guidance on the implementation and performances of engineer activities in the functional unit in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the department’s objectives and targeted plan.
What the role entails
- Assist in provides improvements to engineering, safety & environmental systems & procedures where appropriate.
- Provide a lead role in Electrical Engineers support for concentrator initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with relevant statutory & legislative provisions.
- Provide specialist advice regards the maintenance & operation of critical assets, ensures asset management plans are implemented & complied with.
- Provide hands-on involvement of the troubleshoots of plant electrical equipment, includes PLCs, variable speed drives, variable frequency drives, transformers, switchgear, motor control, motors, protective relaying, field control devices & other plant process electrical equipment
- Provide technical assistance to the upkeep & maintenance of plant electrical engineers software, includes PLC Programs Software, Plant Performance Monitors System (PPMS), DCS Alarms, Safety Isolation Browser, Plant Motor Database, & Plant Load-Flow, Short Circuit, Coordination & Arc-Flash Studies Provide quality control standards for all electrical & instrumentation work.
- Provide improvements, modifications or additions to plant electrical & related process equipment. Ensures that all improvements, modifications or additions are documented by updates or develops the appropriate P&IDs, electrical schematics, one-lines or other required documentation. Ensures that these items are communicated to the affected and/or involved parties. Ensures that all engineers modifications & installations are carried out in a safe & environmentally responsible manner. Provide trainings as necessary to update plant Operations & Asset Management members of such improvements, modifications or additions
- Provide technical direction for equipment maintenance strategy asset optimization plans to deliver increased equipment availability
- Conduct equipment failure investigation & mitigation.
- Identify & implement Engineers recommendations from RCA (taproot) investigation outcomes.
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in similar roles
- Strong commitment to safety
- English competency (both written and oral) is essential.
- Good computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Office suite and have ability to learn other similar programs
