The Opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Network (IP) in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Technology Platform department based at Oyu Tolgoi Mine site and Ulaanbaatar office with 50/50 roster.
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure normal operation of all the UB/Oyu Tolgoi network infrastructure including Internet, core/distribution network components (firewalls, routers, Wireless Controller, Unified Communication systems (Telephone) and L3&L2 switches) and WAN communication links which includes Sydney – UB, UB – OT, UB-Huafeng, rent cores of UB offices and cyber security by providing daily support and issue resolution. Ongoing service improvement, effective utilization and optimization initiatives are also critical. This role is also responsible for new installations and implementations of network systems. This role is 1-year fixed term.
What the role entails
- Promotes and demonstrates values and behaviours in line with OT HSEC policies and standard
- Understanding and complying with all IT policies, standards and procedures
- Work on to provide Internet Gateway network services availability and reliability (troubleshooting, problem solving, work on preventive maintenance tasks)
- Daily activities including network related end user tickets, problem solving, work on preventive maintenance tasks in OT Site.
- Installation and Commission of network hardware such as switches, firewall, routers.
- Work on network related configuration changes
- Responsible for regular monitoring of IP Network devices’ normal operation, capacity, stability and errors through network management systems (Solarwinds, Splunk, Nozomi, Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Cisco FMC, Cisco CSM, Panorama, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
- Collaborate and support technology and network operations, upgrades and new installations of the Underground and Openpit Mining Departments.
- Provide day to day network administration and maintenance for WAN communication links and mining networks
- Maintaining the inventory and spare parts of IP Network gears (Firewall, Router, Switches and Access Points etc.)
- Coordinate with Vendors on resolving hardware/software issues related with UB/OT network systems.
- Responsible for normal operation of the Data Center in UB and OT Mine site, including DC physical connections. In charge of IT network emergency/ Duty, attend user calls according to the specified schedule, when necessary/even at night, acknowledge to repair the network issue/problems according to the supervisor’s guidelines. This role requires the incumbent to have a strong problem-solving skills with technical knowledge and expertise.
What you will need for this role
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computing or Information technology or relevant fields.
- At least 2 years of knowledge and experience required: Configuration, installation and troubleshooting of Cisco Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Wireless Lan Controllers, IP Landline Phone Systems
- Strong knowledge of network security, network Layer 2 and 3 and IP routing and protocols: including VRF, OSPF, BGP routing, VTP, RSTP, HSRP, Ether-Channel, IPSec VPN, 802.1x Authentication, Radius, TACACS+
- Experience/ ability to work with splunk (or similar) devices, network security, threat defense, and malware technologies to analyze network syslog and data traffic
- Be proactive, work independently and be able to work simultaneously, flexibly and optimally on a variety of tasks
- Have a clear knowledge and understanding of ITIL and IT rules and regulations.
- Ability to learn and develop oneself in the workplace and other environments
- Experience in completing and delivering projects on time
- Knowledge of enterprise IP Network solutions
- Cisco CCNA certification or higher preferred
- Have good personal organization and communication skills
- Good verbal and written English skills.
