When was your company established? What are the activities of your company?
My husband and I started a business and we ran a store in the soum center before 2009. In 2010, Oyu Tolgoi announced a tender for selecting business to operate a store at the Oyu Tolgoi mine site. Then, we were awarded the contract and launched a store and we have been running it since 2011.We have expanded and grown and now employee six people.
What is the most important thing when selling food products?
The most important thing is that the food that is sold is safe and good quality. We sell all food items needed and consumed by workers at the mine site. We set our product prices based on research to ensure that prices are not too high.
What do you think about tender selection process of Oyu Tolgoi?
The main thing about the bid selection process is it is very fair. Initially, we were not very confident that we would win the bid. However, the bid selection process was really simple and we were successful. Therefore, I want to tell people who are going to take part in tender that they stand a good chance to win with Oyu Tolgoi, if you prepare all your necessary materials according to the requirements”.
They say even though jobs are being created in rural areas, there are not enough qualified personnel for these jobs?
We trained our employees when we opened up the store. Of course, since there are some foreign employees working at the mine site, the store staffs have to be able to speak English. Therefore, we are training our employees and their contracts include good salaries and incentives.
