Domestic Scholarship Programme

Oyu Tolgoi encourages and values educational development and the pursuit of personal excellence. Since 2010, we have run a domestic scholarship programme and delivered on the commitments we made in the Investment Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the company and the Ministry of Education of Culture and Science on professional training and education. The scholarship programme provides financial assistance to selected applicants to help them obtain undergraduate degrees in fields related to the mining industry in Mongolia. Since 2010, we have granted 200 domestic scholarships to Mongolian students.

Scholarship recipients receive the following support:

  • Payment of tuition fees
  • Monthly living allowance of MNT 200,000
  • Dormitory or accommodation fees (for non-local students)
  • Participation in Oyu Tolgoi student development training
  • Internship opportunities at Oyu Tolgoi

Eligibility requirements for applicants:

  • Mongolian citizenship
  • A second, third or fourth year full-time student at an accredited Mongolian university majoring in Mining, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil engineering, Geology, Geosciences, Chemistry, Environmental and occupational health, and Environmental studies
  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must not be a recipient of scholarships from other organisations

Oyu Tolgoi Domestic scholarship programme is announced each year in September.
