Acknowledged by the local community as they generate jobs through supporting and training local people, especially disabled people.

Delgertsetseg started her sewing business in December 2000 with only 2 people. Read more to find out how it has now become a larger company and what they supply Oyu Tolgoi with now.

Oyu Tolgoi's Procurement department works with many local entities in order to develop and expand small and medium businesses locally. Uran Shaglaa is one of the local entrepreneurs that the company closely partners with.

As part of its commitment to developing local businesses, in May 2010, the Oyu Tolgoi Procurement department started organising meetings and visited sewing businesses in their premises to identify ways to work together on meeting Oyu Tolgoi needs. One of these businesses in Dalanzadgad is run by Delgertsetseg.

Delgertsetseg started her business in December 2000 with 2 people to run tailoring and alteration point. First, she started working with Oyu Tolgoi in June 2010 by receiving work orders from Oyu Tolgoi. At that time, her business was an unregistered small business and it was not big enough to pay taxes.

Since then her business has expanded continuously. Now it is a bigger manufacturer that employs 12 people and produces personal protective clothing for the Oyu Tolgoi workforce. She is acknowledged by the local community as they generate jobs through supporting and training local people, especially disabled people.

"Since we became an Oyu Tolgoi supplier we have attended various trainings organised by the company. Thanks to these trainings, our technical and equipment handling skills improved and we became independent and financially sustainable. This year, one of our achievements were, says Ms Delgertsetseg, “becoming an officially registered Mongolian entity – with the name Gobi Uran Shaglaa LLC and that's not all, this year we just finished building and moved to our new workshop with a space equaling 109 square metre. It is equipped with modern equipments including 10 general sewing machines and 2 specific usage machine. We could build the workshop thanks to micro and medium business supporting credit programme implemented by Oyu Tolgoi. Salary of employees increased by 50 per cent and all of them are now part of a social insurance programme.

The once small sewing workshop has been expanding its activities day by day and contributing its share to the bigger development.
