Soil Trade LLC was founded in 1991 and is recognised as one of the pioneering Mongolian companies in the field of geotechnical investigation and surveying.
Today, the company works in the areas of geotechnical investigation, hydro-geological survey, construction foundation survey, construction design, road and construction materials testing and analysis, drilling and exploration.
Growing employee base and international supplier partnerships
Initially, the company started out with 30 personnel and today it has expanded to 80 employees. In the past, the company has worked with many other Mongolian and international companies including Oyu Tolgoi and Boroo Gold.
The company has benefitted from these partnerships, which include gaining a great deal of knowledge and experience with regards to maintaining high mining safety standards through its co-operation with Oyu Tolgoi.
Senior engineer of Soil Trade T.Renchindorj said: “Since cooperating with Oyu Tolgoi, our company has expanded and set up a field lab in the South Gobi province. There are 25-30 employees working there in summer, and 15 employees in the winter season. We also hire local residents from the South Gobi province.”
Soil Trade’s reputation is growing internationally and its experience growing locally
Since 2004 Soil Trade has been the official Mongolian distributor for Humboldt, a US manufacturer of construction materials, and soil and gravel testing equipment.
Soil Trade maintains a fully equipped lab with advanced testing equipment which includes Humboldt’s technology. They conduct geotechnical analysis according to the international standards of ASTM, AASHTO.
The company has performed geotechnical investigation work for the 101km road from Oyu Tolgoi to the Mongolian-Chinese border. Previously, they have also conducted geotechnical investigations and other survey works for Oyu Tolgoi site, including: Shaft 1-5; Crusher; Melting and stockpiling dams; and the 35 kW Power sub-station.

Each month Oyu Tolgoi recognises our best supplier partners who demonstrate excellence in the products and services that they deliver. Soil Trade LLC was recognised as the best contractor in January 2012. They continue to maintain excellent delivery performance within specifications whilst achieving a record of zero safety incidents over three consecutive months.
