About Altain Zam
The company has strong project experience that has made a great contribution to Mongolia’s infrastructure. This includes the roads on a number of full length and highway bridges, such as:
- 70 km of highway to Bayan-Ulgii and Tsagaannuur;
- 80 km road from Arkhangai to Kharkhorin
- 100 km highway construction towards Mankhan Dariv of Khovd aimag (current project)
Bringing strong experience to Oyu Tolgoi
Altain Zam LLC won the tender to build the 27.4 km road that will link the Oyu Tolgoi mine site to the border of the People’s Republic of China.
The planned road will be built in compliance with the international standards, the first highway of its kind in Mongolia. This means that the road will aim to have low impact to its environment and surrounding grassland by minimising the amount of dust from the road.
220 new jobs in their peak work period
The harsh Mongolian winter dictates that most work will be carried out in a summer peak work period from June-August, in which time Altain Zam LLC will be creating 220 new jobs. The company plan to finish the construction of the highway by October 2012.
