Since 2008 Oyu Tolgoi has been working with Sandvik Mongolia LLC, and at the end of 2011 extended this supplier partnership to include an asset service agreement to provide 12 hours/7 days of service and maintenance works to Shaft 1.

Growing its Mongolian workforce
With a vision of going to 24 hours/7 days of technical support coverage in the near future, Sandvik Mongolia plans to increase their Mongolian workforce in 2012 in order to support the greater workload. This would include the creation of jobs for service engineers and technicians.
Sandvik Mongolia’s employees gain from global network
Sandvik Mongolia is using its international network to provide training to employees. To date, 18 employees have taken part in overseas training conducted in Sandvik offices in the United States, Finland, Kazakhstan, Russia, Korea, China and the Sandvik Finance Academy in Sweden.
The training topics cover a wide range of topics including equipment servicing, HR, Environmental, Health and Safety issues, international financial reporting standards, IT and anti-trust law.
This training equips the employees that work with Sandvik and Oyu Tolgoi with the necessary skills, contributing significantly to their professional development and boosting their confidence at work. Attending the training in Sandvik offices abroad also provides a great opportunity for Mongolian employees to network face to face with the colleagues they usually work with everyday via email and phone.
