Press release: Scholarship programme presented to students

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – 'Open door day' was recently held at the Oyu Tolgoi Information Center. During this event, the Oyu Tolgoi Higher Education Support programme was presented to Mongolian students. Training officer Yo.Lkhamaa of the Human Resources department of Oyu Tolgoi LLC provided a detailed introduction to the programme and shared success stories of students who had previously won Oyu Tolgoi scholarships. The presentation was received by the students with great interest.

Oyu Tolgoi implements National, International and South Gobi scholarship programmes as well as internships and graduate programmes. Many students participated in this year’s event and in addition to learning new information, they also found out about the qualification criteria for International Scholarships, issues to pay attention to during the National Scholarship interview and how to determine average scores.

At the event, geology student, Ch.Choisurendorj of Gazarchin college said: “I have never applied for a scholarship before. Now I have obtained detailed information about how to apply.”

To date, over 100 students have received Oyu Tolgoi National Scholarships. The scholarship provides university annual tuition fees, monthly living expenses of 200,000 MNT and student accommodation for students from the countryside. In addition, students can gain practical experience through the internship programme at Oyu Tolgoi.

Oyu Tolgoi National Scholarship applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m today. The International Scholarship will be announced shortly.
