Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Oyu Tolgoi launched its mining information center in Dalanzadgad. The center was set up to deliver accurate information about the project, develop stakeholder cooperation and provide corporate transparency in the community to promote corporate social responsibility.
Local residents of Umnugobi can access a wealth of information related to Oyu Tolgoi and mining through this center. During working hours, the public can visit the information center and obtain business information related to job vacancies, training, supplier and procurement providers and the use of a library and internet services. The center not only provides information to the public, but also collects feedback and opinions.
Houston Spencer, Vice President of Communications and Media Relations at Oyu Tolgoi, said “Last January we opened an information center in Ulaanbaatar. Opening of a second information center here in Dalanzadgad provides local residents the opportunity to obtain accurate information about the Oyu Tolgoi project”.
L.Tsetseg-Ulzii, chairwoman of the local Citizen-Representative Khural of Dalanzadgad, said “Thank you on behalf of the citizens of Umnugobi for opening this information center to provide accurate information about mining and the Oyu Tolgoi project”.
We interviewed local people after the grand opening of the information center and listened to their impressions. T.Enkhtuya, local resident of Umnugobi said “By coming here, I received valuable information and discussed many things openly. I’m hoping that our family business will prosper by service from the information center. Thank you very much. I will always come to the center and check the latest information”.
D. Bumaa, another local resident said “I’m happy that I came here and stopped by the center. The staff has provided very friendly service. I was able to get concrete information and I’m thankful that this center has been set up. I believe that your company makes a valuable contribution to local development and prosperity”.
The mining information center is located on the second floor of the ‘Tost Gobi’ building in Dalanzadgad.
