Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Nine employees of Oyu Tolgoi LLC received state awards by the 29th decree of the President of Mongolia, issued on 12 March 2014. Among the recipients was Togtokhbayar Otgonbayar, Principal resource geologist who was honored with the Order of the Polar Star. The Order was handed to Otgonbayar today by G.Batsukh, Chairman of the Board of Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
Speaking at the event, G.Batsukh said: “In the last three years, the open pit and the concentrator plant were commissioned today, concentrate is being exported. Oyu Tolgoi is making a weighty contribution to the economy of Mongolia. All of this is the result of the conscientious hard work of hundreds and thousands of people working at Oyu Tolgoi.”
After receiving the Order, T.Otgonbayar said: “I am happy with the recognition by the Government of my efforts at Oyu Tolgoi where I have worked since the first drilling was done here. Today, Oyu Tolgoi has come a long way. It is making concentrate and exporting it to the world market. I take pride being a part of the gigantic construction effort which made this possible.”
T.Otgonbayar has worked at Oyu Tolgoi since 2002. He contributed significantly to introducing new methods of geological analysis, organisation and the management of drill sample quality monitoring.
