Press release: Khanbogd doctors and nurses take part in new training

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Doctors and nurses from Umnugovi aimag’s Khanbogd inter-soum hospital recently took part in a training course at Oyu Tolgoi mine. The first aid training took place on 8-9 June at the mine’s International SOS clinic.

From 2004, International SOS Mongolia has been working with the SOS Medica Mongolia clinic at Oyu Tolgoi. They provide emergency and primary medical check-up services and are highly experienced in emergency evacuation and assistance. In addition to working with the Oyu Tolgoi project, they also cooperate with local health care organisations and provide several other medical services. The recent training was conducted to support this. Hospital doctor S.Vanchindorj said: “The goal of this authorized American Heart Association training wass to improve and reinforce the first aid knowledge of doctors and medical employees”.

Participant B.Amarsanaa, a statistician from the Khanbogd inter-soum hospital said: “This training by the International SOS hospital at Oyu Tolgoi provides practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge. In recent years, with the development of mining in our soum, the fixed resident and transient population has been increasing. This also means there are more accidents and injuries. This training is therefore very timely.”

Those who participated in the first aid training will also share their new knowledge with colleagues.
