Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – An art exhibition of modern installations and other art made by young artists from recycled waste opened today in the 'Ulaan Ger' gallery of the Mongolian Arts Council.
This art exhibition is organised and being held 19-31 March with sponsorship from Rio Tinto and on the initiative of the Mongolian Arts Council. The exhibit calls for protecting the environment through reducing, sorting, and recycling of waste under the title “Don’t feel sorry later. Reduce waste, think, and recycle”.
Seven young artists are displaying their installations made from recycled waste as well as photo and video artwork. This art aims to make people understand that they are the primary waste producers and encourage them to reduce and sort waste and to promote smarter consumption, leading to open public discussion on these pressing issues.
Kh.Oyundari, director of the public art education programme of the Mongolian Arts Council says, “Internationally, modern art is not only an expression of human beauty and perfection, but also aims to express social issues and promote public understanding. Therefore, the organisers wanted to emphasise the ideas, public impact, and significance of this artwork rather than its form or structure”.
Viewers are encouraged to visit the “Don’t feel sorry later. Reduce waste, think and recycle” arts exhibition.
