The regional event led by Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, Governor’s office of Khovd aimag with support from Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mineral Resources Authority allowed us to share our operational best practice and social and economic benefits and opportunities to western part of our homeland.
Younger attendants were eager to learn about scholarships and youth education programs by Oyu Tolgoi and its partner institutions while rural businesses and entrepreneurs had learning sessions on procurement procedure and expanded their knowledge on how copper is mined and copper concentrate is shipped. Oyu Tolgoi team allowed Khovd people to visit underground mine using virtual reality and showcased locally made safety boots, socks to gloves, PPEs, eyewear from our “Made in Mongolia” collection. Open day event was followed by two day discussion and training on bettering the minerals sector policy for public service managers with content and experience sharing on environment preservation and partnerships wins by the major mining companies
