Oyu Tolgoi has initiated the construction of a new 12.6 km paved road, stretching from the northern gate of the Oyu Tolgoi mine to the Tavantolgoi coal transport route.
This paved road will be built to meet Mongolia’s national standards, classified as a 2A grade road, ensuring high quality. The road will not only be of high quality but also safe and friendly for travelers, livestock, and wildlife. To achieve this, the locations and structures for culverts, crossings, and other road features have been carefully planned and discussed in multiple meetings with local herders and provincial and district authorities.
The road construction is scheduled to be completed within this year, with the project being undertaken by Zag Engineering LLC, ESTO LLC, and Uujim Od LLC.
Since 2016, as part of our commitment to sustainable development, 80% of the financing from the Gobi Oyu Development Support Fund has been allocated to infrastructure projects, with 20% of these funds directed towards Khanbogd soum.
