Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – Oyu Tolgoi LLC CEO Armando Torres today participated in the donation of state-of-the-art ultra sound machine for kidney imagery to the Kidney Center of the Hospital No. 1. Mongolia’s State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Mr. Sodnomdorj and the leadership team of the Hospital No. 1 of Ulaanbaatar took part in the handover ceremony.
According to the official health statistics of Mongolia, kidney diseases have ranked fourth in the Amenable Mortality Rate. Hospital No. 1, as a premier national institution in receiving and curing kidney disease related patrons, provides a medical care to around 1,200 people in its inpatient center and another 18,000 in its outpatient. Unfortunately, many prospective patients have been unable to receive early detections, leading them to develop end-stage kidney diseases due to the absence of the proper early diagnostic imaging machine. Thus, some patients have eventually resorted to kidney dialysis treatment.
Hospital No. 1 is now able to reduce the kidney diseases for a certain level and save many lives with the Oyu Tolgoi’s donated ultra sound machine. Moreover, patients can visit the facility for diagnosis without spending a significant amount of money to travel and get diagnosed overseas.
