Oyu Tolgoi is committed to human development and education, organising a wide range of programmes and projects such as building schools, awarding scholarships and jointly designing the tertiary curriculum with the local universities. We provide educational opportunities for both high school and tertiary students. Since 2010, over 3,732 students have enrolled in Oyu Tolgoi’s educational programmes and received various scholarship opportunities.
We are pleased to announce three different scholarship programmes for the 2022-2023 academic year, which will award 135 students. The applications will open on 17 October 2022 and close on 15 November 2022.
- Youth Development Programme: It is designed to upskill high school students. To date, more than 1,330 students have participated in this programme. This year, we are awarding 50 students of Ulaanbaatar city and 50 students of Dalanzadgad and Khanbogd soums of Umnugovi province. Awardees will participate in eight-week personal development training and design and implement projects in a team setting.
Eligibility:
- Be a citizen of Mongolia
- Be a 12th-grade student of the schools in Khanbogd, Dalanzadgad soums of Umnugovi province.
- Domestic scholarship: This full scholarship is available for second to fourth-year tertiary students enrolling in the following courses in Mongolian universities. Since 2011, 376 students have received this scholarship. The scholarship fully covers tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend; if the awardee hails from a rural area, the student is entitled to accommodation fees. The awardees will also be provided with the opportunity to enrol in the Youth Development Programme for personal development. Twenty-five students will be awarded this year.

- Be a Mongolian citizen
- Should not receive additional funding from other scholarship programmes that are already covered by Oyu Tolgoi’s scholarship
- Be a sophomore, junior, or senior year undergraduate student of an accredited Mongolian university majoring in the following professions:
- Mining geotechnical engineer
- Forestry engineer
- Mining engineer, Mineral surveyor
- Mechanical engineer
- Electrical engineer
- Renewal energy
- Automation engineer
- Geology
- Concentration
technology (chemistry, metallurgy) - Logistics
- Industrial economist
- Data science (Applied
mathematics, statistics) - Law
- Education
- Labour health and
safety - Information
Technology
- Geotechnical scholarship: This programme aims to prepare globally competitive geotechnical engineers capable of planning and executing geotechnical works and monitoring and mitigating geotechnical risks. Ten students will be awarded this year.

- Be a Mongolian citizen
- Be a freshman and sophomore student in the Geotechnical programme at the Mongolian University of Science and Technology
