Success story: Comprehensive energy production from Energy International

– Mongolian company awarded Best Oyu Tolgoi supplier for HSE performance –

Without infrastructure, power and energy, large mining developments would not exist. Several companies have supported Oyu Tolgoi in the development of its infrastructure, including Energy International LLC who provide planning, design, construction and maintenance of energy facilities.

At Oyu Tolgoi, Energy International have been responsible for the electricity, energy production and water supply system as well as maintaining the water treatment and bottling plant. They have been a supplier at Oyu Tolgoi since 2011.

We’ve learnt a particular amount about health and safety and professional training. We’ve stuck to Oyu Tolgoi’s core principle of ‘Zero Harm’ by paying very close attention to health and safety and the environment.

“We are very excited that our efforts and contributions to Oyu Tolgoi were recognised at the recent Gobi Gem, Oyu Tologi Supplier Recognition Awards, where we won the award for best HSE performance. Previously, we have also won awards at Gobi Gem 2011, Best new supplier and Supplier of the month. We will continue to work hard to keep supplying Oyu Tolgoi with reliable, sustainable energy supplies.”

The company has implemented a Key Performance Indicator system to evaluate its performance and safeguard health and safety and the environment. Theis approach is already producing tangible results. Energy International was awarded the title of Best Taxpayer 2012 and the ‘Blue Notebook’ award by the National Tax Authority, as well as Best Company for Corporate Responsibility by the Mongolian Management Association in 2012.
