Press release: Top artist helps Oyu Tolgoi to release safety song

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – For mining companies, safety should be the most important priority. Getting this message across to employees can be done in a variety of ways, including through music. Oyu Tolgoi LLC created a pop song to reinforce its safety rules. Oyu Tolgoi has six ‘life saving rules’ which employees are expected to work to at all times, the song reminds the workforce of these rules in a fun and effective way.

Since the launch of the song, it has become a hit, not only in Oyu Tolgoi, but also across the Rio Tinto group. Oyu Tolgoi employees, including those who appear in the song’s video, are very proud that their work has proved so popular.

This song was performed by popular rapper Quiza and the band 'Negen zugt'.

B.Dolgor, Oyu Tolgoi’s Superintendent of HSE Management Systems said “Our staff have responded very well to the song which promotes our safety rules through its lyrics. Songs and music are always dear to the hearts of people”. Rap artist Quiza said “I like the idea of a mining company initiating a safety song. I really enjoyed working on it.”

Safety should not only be a concern for the mining, infrastructure and construction industries but also a 'law' that should be applied in the daily life of every person.
