Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – The environmental management activities of Oyu Tolgoi are always of interest to the people of Mongolia. To keep the general public informed and up to date, the company has posted online, the 2012 Environmental Management Report, approved by the Ministry of Natural Environment and Green Development.
R.Bumdari, Oyu Tolgoi’s senior specialist in charge of legal compliance in the Environmental department said, “we openly report our environmental plans and their implementation processes to the public. This report includes all our activities ranging from technical and biological rehabilitation to the protection of water, soil and animals.”
She added, “Oyu Tolgoi is using the latest and most progressive technology with the most efficient water conservation methods. Our engineers discovered a deep-water aquifer, Gunii Hooloi, 70 km from the mine. The government of Mongolia have given us permission to use 20 per cent of this water reserve over a 40 year period and will be monitoring the water use from this aquifer.”
