Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – As part of National Pride Day celebrations, a ceremony was held to place a sample of copper concentrate produced by Oyu Tolgoi LLC on display at the Geology and minerals Hall of the Mongolian National Museum. For the first time, copper concentrate mined in the South Gobi assumed its place among our nation’s cultural, historic and natural exhibits as a registered part of the collections of the National Museum.
T.Munkhbat, Deputy Director, Resource Strategy and Innovation of Oyu Tolgoi LLC emphasised in the speech made at the opening ceremony that by making copper concentrate a museum exhibit, all Mongolians and particularly the younger generation, will have an opportunity to see with their own eyes the concentrate being produced by the mining industry.
M.Tumenjargal, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sports and tourism said: “I am pleased that Oyu Tolgoi copper concentrate is now an exhibit in the museum. This sample was presented by G.Batsukh, Chairman of the Board of Oyu Tolgoi LLC to Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag on that auspicious day of July 9th and is being officially placed in museum today. I wish success to all Oyu Tolgoi staff.”
Dr. D.Sukhbaatar, director of Mongolian National Museum who holds PhD in history said: “Today is a day to remember for staff of our museum. This concentrate is a resource of Mongolia. Mining is a key to Mongolia’s development. This sample of concentrate is a resource that is available to the public. I wish success and all the best to people of Oyu Tolgoi in their work”.
