The annual Mongolian Human Resource Day Forum was held successfully under the theme “PEOPLE FIRST: Care Develop Share” in October, 2023.
On this special occasion, Melissa Shanjengange, General Manager, People and Organisation of Oyu Tolgoi received the prestigious “Best HR Leader” award.
The “Best HR Leader” award is an esteemed title granted to managers who share their knowledge and experience with others, implement initiatives that promote the development of their organisation and actively contribute to the betterment of the industry.
In addition, the award highlights the demonstrated exceptional leadership, the positive impacts and the progress made in a short period of time, while showcasing the ability to navigate and overcome challenges, and leading by example.
Melissa Shanjengange fostered collaboration within the Mongolian Human Resource professionals and organisations while spearheading various impactful initiatives in the mining industry, including the establishment of the employee retirement savings fund, introduction of a 4-month parental leave policy for new fathers, and various development programmes for all employees including contractor companies.
Melissa remains committed to sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience with others. Throughout the challenging period of the pandemic, she not only efficiently managed and coordinated employee payroll, but also the domestic and international travel, roster movement, and on-site operations and ensured full compliance with the revised Labor Law.
