New academic year opening ceremony of ​German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) was held today

German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) organized its new academic year opening ceremony today. This institute held its groundbreaking ceremony in 2011 and opened its campus in 2014 with the full funding from Oyu Tolgoi LLC. GMIT has expanded its total enrollment over the years, reaching 180 students while 36 students joined the institute when it commenced its academic year in 2014. GMIT is located in Nalaikh District and delivers its programs both in English and Mongolian with German and Mongolian lecturers. It offers Industrial, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering and Raw Materials and Process Engineering programs. Oyu Tolgoi LLC has earmarked $26.7 million for the school buildings in Nalaikh, Darkhan, Choir, Dalanzadgad and Khanbogd and $5.4 million for various TVET teacher trainings, the GMIT campus is one of the beneficiaries. Oyu Tolgoi LLC has also awarded 850 scholarships for students to prepare competitive national workforce in line with its vision and values.
