“Major Drilling Mongolia LLC” has been operating in Mongolia since July 2002, providing a wide range of drilling services such as Diamond, Directional, Underground, Rotary Mud and Reverse Circulation to international and Mongolian mining and exploration companies including Oyu Tolgoi. One of its services, Reverse Circulation Drilling can be enlisted in all geological formations and offers a veritable cost effective alternative to Core Drilling.
Armed with specialty in drilling, Major Drilling delivers the Oyu Tolgoi mine site through its extensive experience, strong focus on safety and utilization of latest drilling rig technology. In August 2017, together with Oyu Tolgoi’s underground working group, Major Drilling working group won Oyu Tolgoi’s bi-annual “XAMTDAA” Recognition Award in Growth category with their Seismic Drilling Program project initiative. Seismic drilling program is critical to the success of block caving and by continually monitoring the production process, the mining team is in robust position to deliver safe and efficient operations. This program is a cutting edge technology and harbinger of its peers in Mongolia.
Safety is one of the foremost values of Major Drilling Mongolia and as a subsidiary of Major Drilling Group International Inc – one of the world’s largest drilling and mine service companies, it runs the TAKE 5 personal risk assessment program and commences each shift with a TAKE 5 Safety Meeting. In this meeting, the schedule and scope of work is carefully outlined, and potential hazards to these activities are itemized and discussed in detail.
Major Drilling Mongolia also values capacity development of local employees through regular safety and technical workshops. The ninety-five percent of Major Drilling Mongolia workforce is Mongolian with an ever-increasing number holding more senior positions.
