The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Superintendent Electrical & Instrumentation in Oyu Tolgoi LLC Underground Mining-ELHL Construction department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 14 days off.

The purpose of this role Electrical Superintendent is a key member of the Owner’s Construction team who oversees the execution of Electrical and Instrumentation construction works performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with safety, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

What the role entails

  • Accountable for delivery of assigned Electrical and Instrumentation construction packages
  • Overseeing and monitor the performance of the works contractor(s) to ensure compliance with schedule, cost and quality requirements
  • Engaging with the works contractors to ensure construction activities are performed safely and in accordance with Rio Tinto standards and procedures
  • Undertaking field and engineering documentation audits to ensure compliance with Legislative requirements and Rio Tinto project engineering guidance and standards
  • Providing technical support and direction on engineering matters, building on and sharing of the lessons learned;
  • Participating in design and constructability reviews to identify opportunities to improve execution and/or operations of the facilities
  • Monitoring and expediting procurement activities for construction materials and equipment contracts;
  • Preparing progress reports covering critical issues and performance against cost and schedule baselines;
  • Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders to drive a culture of collaboration, participation and improvement
  • Coordinating with the Mining team to address interface issues and support the operational readiness activities required to transition from construction through to operations
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to direct reports.

What you will need for this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Work experience in Electrical Engineering or Trade Experience
  • At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
  • Excellent Mongolian and English, both written and oral
  • Excellent management skills and Good team work planning and self-organization
  • Good communication, speaking, and presentation skills
  • Team leading experience
