Quality Assurance and Quality Compliance Engineer

The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Quality Assurance and Quality Compliance Engineer in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground Operations ELHL Construction department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine with the roster of 14 days on and 14 days off.

The purpose of this role is a key member of the Owner’s Construction team who oversees the execution of all Quality Assurance and Compliance relating to the construction works performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with safety, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

What the role entails

• QA/QC of construction works performed by the contractor to ensure delivery complies with the schedule, cost and quality requirements.
• Ensure that Contractors perform work safely, in accordance with the safety plan rules and regulations and project procedures.
• Plan, design, document and manage the Quality Assurance aspects of the construction activities and processes
• Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with the OT and Project Quality, Environmental and Safety Management systems requirements
• Compile all Material Data Records (MDR) and handover documentation from the contractor and OT supplied items
• Assisting with the production of Operations documentation: standard work procedures, isolation procedures, task lists etc.
• Creating punch list items where equipment does not comply with requirements.
• Following up on non-compliances identified in the punch lists until they are satisfactorily rectified.
• Ensuring commissioning test records are completed and signed,
• Approving and signing all quality documentation,
• Assist in the commissioning and handover phase by ensuring all quality and commissioning activities have been completed according to the OT commissioning procedure
• Participate in construction risk assessments processes to ensure that planned work is executed safely and in accordance with site procedures and quality requirements.
• Liaises with the contractor to support field engineering queries, issues and changes requested by Contractors.
• Reviews project related documentation for adequacy and completeness and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
• In field design and construction verification to confirm compliance with standards and specifications and reporting of deficiencies.
• Ensure that all Government and Authorities requirements are satisfied.
• Prepares daily and weekly reports covering status of activities, progress/performance, and emerging issues.

What you will need for this role

• Post-secondary or equivalent education obtained through degrees, certificates (e.g. apprenticeship or trades certificate) or diplomas from academic or vocational training centers
• Undergraduate degree in engineering or relevant discipline
• Previous experience in Structural, Mechanical and Piping construction and Electrical are also highly regarded.
• At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
• Fluently in English and Mongolian (Both Written & Spoken)
• Manages relationships with contractor teams, monitors compliance with SLAs & provides resolution for any quality issues, budget shortfalls etc
• Understands safety & quality control procedures for Oyu Tolgoi & drives adherence within the contractor teams
