Barilga corporation have a long history of cooperation with Oyu Tolgoi. Since 2006, they have carried out three functions for the project – construction and installation work, camp services and supply of goods. They built many of the facilities at Oyu Tolgoi including the warehouse facilities, parts of concentrator and the large Sports and Cultural Centre.
The company says that Oyu Tolgoi offers open and fair competition for Mongolian companies and the company has had many opportunities for growth and development.
The company's reputation has been enhanced dramatically and they are learning continuously. They are now working with several foreign businesses as a direct result of the experience gained with Oyu Tolgoi.
Oyu Tolgoi is providing opportunities to thousands of Mongolian companies. Having worked with Oyu Tolgoi, Barilga Corporation’s employees have become committed to safety and work practices at the mine, complying with all regulations and procedures. They were the first Mongolian company to operate 456,000 man/hours without a Lost Time Injury in 2010.
They constructed the Sports and Cultural Centre at Oyu Tolgoi using a workforce of 100 and advanced equipment. The project was completed within just eight months, one of many of Barilga’s successes.
Barilga corporation has been recognised for its strong improvement in safety culture. The company was named Oyu Tolgoi’s best contractor in February of 2012 and Supplier of the Month again in November 2013.
