The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Mine Design in Technical Integrated Planning – Underground Technical Services department based in Oyu Tolgoi mine site 7 days on 7 days off and Ulaanbaatar office 5 days on 2 days off.
The purpose of this role is to provide services and support on mine design activities of the organizational unit in large complex environment in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the department’s objectives and targeted plan.
What the role entails
- “Completion of detailed mine design drafting requirements (IFD, MDA, MCA, GS, CB, Excave)
- Mining Data Management administration (uploading and amending all approved mine design for the underground mine)
- Underground time to enhance their mining engineering knowledge
- Completion of complex Mass Excavation design packages
- Mine area design projects (using mining engineering skills versus drafting designs)
- Training more junior staff to elevate everyone up to a higher level
- Advanced solids modelling for Brisbane geotechnical department to enable complex geotechnical models to be run for drive/area stability
- Training in being future leaders and to take over as acting leaders when other people are away
- Procedural updates when required and translation to Mongolian for easy use by other team members”
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- University level education in Bachelor’s degree of Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
- Proficiency in English upper intermediate level
- Strong commitment to safety
