The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Engineer Data Processing in our Oyu Tolgoi LLC – OTUP – Geoscience and Services department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

The purpose of this role is to provide services and support on administrative activities of the functional area in line with the company policies and procedures to achieve the team’s objectives and targeted plan.

What the role entails

The Geotechnical Engineer is estimated to spend approximately 2/3 of its time working in the field (underground and on surface) and 1/3 on surface in an office environment. This ratio of time spent in the field will be variable depending on the work being carried out as part of the plan.

• Assist in rock mass characterization and mapping activities- Geotechnical and Geological

• Assist in developing schedules for projects managed by the Geosciences team

• Ground support quality inspections and testing

• Geotechnical instrumentation installation, repair and data capture

• Geotechnical and Geological core logging for purposes of characterization

• Data input into various types of databases and managing data quality from various data sources

• Laser scanning and processing activities associated with the lateral development quality management

• Assist in ground support trials and investigations related to ground support innovation

• Perform geotechnical inspections and damage mapping of infrastructure

• Work with own team and peers in the mine environment to ensure work is done safely and in the most efficient manner.

What you will need for this role

• Degree in Civil Engineer, Geological Engineering or Mining Engineer related disciplines – Other Engineering disciplines may be considered with sufficient Underground Mining Geotechnical skill and experience.
• Experience working in the mining industry is an advantage.
• Experience working in a control room environment (mining, emergency, taxi, logistics dispatch, etc.) is an advantage.
• Good communication skills in both Mongolian and English is an advantage
• Experience with mining management or control systems (Pitram, Modular, Jigsaw, SCADA, etc.) is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in field
