Oyu Tolgoi is proud to particularly focus on local engagement and support their capabilities because development of in-country supply chains does not only make our supply chain more secure, but it also supports growth in the local economy and employment.
One of our notable local suppliers is MCS Property, who is completing Oyu Tolgoi’s Underground Critical Facilities Development project. Within the scope of the project, installations of facilities such as jaw crusher, interim fire water and service water systems, workshops, explosives storage and mine dewatering system took place at Oyu Tolgoi Mine site. In addition, MCS provided overall management and supply of required human resources, equipment, tools, goods and services with over 500 extremely capable Mongolian personnel at Oyu Tolgoi mine site. 
Since joining Oyu Tolgoi’s Underground Project, MCS team has improved their HSE practices, welding and lifting procedures and gained knowledge on quality assurance/quality control specifications and procedures.
We are proud that more than half of the top Underground contractors by commitment are National. Oyu Tolgoi has made many great progresses in building local capability in 2017 and we will continue to look for opportunities to increase, not only local content, but also bringing the supply chain closer to the site by looking for future manufacturing opportunities in Life of Mine goods.
