Meet Jack. He joined Oyu Tolgoi development in 2004. He was named as one of the company’s Employees of the year 2013. Together with other young workers, Jack has driven the production of copper concentrate at the operating mine. He has achieved the highest qualification in his profession, 6th grade master crane operator.
Jack has been fighting earth’s gravity using his equipment for 34 years. He has lifted and unloaded thousands of tonnes of cargo from the ground. Like many other professions, he can’t afford mistakes and needs the utmost responsibility and care when doing his job. At Oyu Tolgoi he is referred to with respect as Big Brother Jack.
He says: “At this crucial moment when we transition from construction to operations, I will share my knowledge and experience with the younger generation. Together we will focus on safety and improving productivity by trusting each other.”
