The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Writer Technical in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Underground EL and HL Construction department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 14 days on and 14 days off
The purpose of this role is to provide translation services and support to the various functional areas of the business in line with the company policies and procedures.
What the role entails
- Deliver good quality verbal & written translations from English into Mongolian & vice versa.
- Compliance with specific domain & client terminology and/or any other reference material provided & ensures terminological consistency during translation.
- Semantic accuracy of the target language content.
- Appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, diacritical marks, & other orthographical conventions of the target language.
- Lexical cohesion & phraseology.
- Compliance with any proprietary & /or client style guide (includes domain, language register, & language variants);
- Appropriate locale & any applicable standards.
- Appropriate formatting; and
- Compliance with target audience & purpose of the target language content.
- Do research on the subject matter to acquire the additional linguistic & specialized knowledge necessary to understand the source language content & to produce the target language content, by uses the internet or other means or refers to subject m
- Proofread, review or revise various written translations in English & Mongolian languages, when assigned.
- In performs his/her duties, the Translator shall raise any uncertainty as a query with the subject matter expert, meet deadlines in delivers the translation, comply with ethical codes, safety standards & employment agreement, & shall keep the strict confidentiality of information.
- The role shall be primarily office based and shall be required to work underground as required by management.
- Written translation of JHA’s, Risk Assessments, permits, SWP’s, Barricade and Information Tags, CRM verifications etc may be requested to be completed in the field or office environment
- Support the translation of safety interactions, training and infield coaching activities where critical safety messages need to be accurately relayed with the correct context and meaning to support accurate messaging and information transfer.
What you will need for this role
- Post-secondary or equivalent education obtained through degrees, certificates (e.g. apprenticeship or trades certificate) or diplomas from academic or vocational training centres.
- Degree or certificate from a professional english language school and universities.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent personal time management and attitude – Positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges.
