The opportunity

We are looking for nine (9) Technician Electrical and Instrumentation in Oyu Tolgoi UG Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance Department based at the Oyu Tolgoi mine site with a roster 14 days on and 14 days off.

The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and provide reliability of the Underground mine electrical and instrumentation equipment in order to achieve operation department normal operation and planned target.

What the role entails

  • Performs maintenance on fixed plant equipment and mining electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with PLC, control systems, and instrumentation to identify faulty components, and implement repairs.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies to minimize downtime.
  • Identifies defects and provides feedback on asset performance and health as per Work Management Process and SAP system, provides feedback, and completes work orders and SWPs.
  • Supports the defect elimination process and contributes to the work management analysis and
  • asset tactics reviews.
  • Ensures work management activities are undertaken in line with SAP work orders/job instructions.
  • Support commissioning during various phases of the underground project.
  • Follows all safety procedures while executing day-to-day activities.
  • Provide visible support to supervisor’s decisions, express opinions appropriately, and creatively initiate alternatives.
  • Ensure all installations are done according to the C2 standard.
  • Ensure follow the C1 Isolation standard.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national regulations regarding electrical systems.

What you will need for this role

  • Electrical or Instrumentation technician certificates or diplomas from college or university and field experience.
  • At least 3 years of electrical maintenance experience, or otherwise significant practical experience and on-the-job training.
  • Read complex electrical schematics and troubleshooting.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work in the underground environment.
  • Have a PLC and instrumentation experience.
