The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Superintendent Risk and Assurance in Oyu Tolgoi Finance and Commercial – Risk and Assurance department based at Ulaanbaatar.
The primary purpose of this role is to support Manager risk and Assurance in delivering a fit for purpose risk management and assurance program across the Oyu Tolgoi LLC.
What the role entails
- Leading the delivery of risk management programs of work, including the development and maintenance of critical control management program and framework.
- Coordinating analysis, and reporting of risk information for the OT business, and support communication of results.
- Continuous improvement of systems and processes to support improved management of business risks.
- Facilitating risk assessments and actively apply knowledge of assessment methodologies to advise the business on risk exposures and control measures to effectively manage identified risks.
- Plan, execute and track internal assurance and governance activities.
- Participating in, and coordinating internal audit and assurance activities as required.
- Responsible for action tracking, metrics development, and metrics reporting on routine basis.
- Interfacing with relevant central teams (RT Risk, RT Group Internal audit and RT SOX) to maximize their support for the OT.
- Administering key risk and audit/action management systems used across OT and provide support for users when required.
- Coordinate the Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) program by agreeing processes and controls in scope, engaging with SOX auditors on timing and budgets of audits, consultation with process owners to develop their supporting documentation, and evaluation and reporting of assurance results.
What you will need for this role
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or risk management. Advanced professional certification in audit and risks management would be advantage.
- The ideal candidate will have 5 years (minimum) of experience in risk management and assurance of heavy industry or mining operations.
- Thorough understanding of risk management principles and frameworks.
- Ability to understand, explain, and analyze complex, inter-related operations, processing systems, control systems, and projects.
- Hands on with a strong desire to understand how the mine operates.
- Ability to work in a team, and independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence outcomes across all organizational levels.
- Experience in root cause and corrective action investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in common software packages and data analytics tools.
