The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Superintendent Development (QAQC) in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground Mine Development departments based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
This position plays an important role in the Underground Mine Development, which is tasked with ensuring that all underground mine development is executed in a safe and efficient manner. This role will support the creation, implementation and maintenance of fit-for-purpose processes relating to mine development and ensure the delivery of mine development plans whilst maintaining a high level of operational safety, schedule compliance and tactical efficiency applied to development plans.
What the role entails:
“Health, Safety & Environment
- As a leader in the Underground team, provide visible and felt safety leadership to the Contractor, the workforce in general and across the Oyu Tolgoi LLC Operations.
- Actively developing safety culture whilst ensuring that all work undertaken in areas of responsibility comply with existing safety legislation and applicable HSE standards.
- Implement and support tools and systems that directly impact the safety of the underground workforce
Operational
- QA/QC of mine development contractor activities, ground support installation, pull testing and shotcrete/concrete activities. Tracking and the recording of all ground support activities.
- QA/QC of construction works performed by the contractors to ensure compliance to design
- Plan, design, document and manage the Quality Assurance aspects of the mine development & construction activities and processes
- Ensure that Contractors perform work safely, in accordance with the safety plan rules and regulations and project procedures
- Ensure mine designs and the implementation of mine designs complies with the Geotechnical design parameters;
- Participate in HSEC related activities by anticipating current and future risks, and setting and monitoring objectives to ensure standards are met.
Leadership
- Provide strong and visible leadership and direction to direct reports, team members and contractor organizations
- Coordinate activities between a wide range of underground project stakeholders and external consultants
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- “Degree in Engineering (Mining Engineering or Geotechnical engineer preferred) or equivalent tertiary qualification, and strong Project Management skills.
- At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
- Microsoft Excel and Office suite skills
- English language verbal and written skills will be well regarded
- Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills
