The opportunity
We are looking for One (1) Specialist Metrology in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Electrical Services Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
The purpose of this role is establishing uniformity of measurement for measuring instruments used in OT and continuously improving its operation.
This includes ensuring the reliability and maintenance of measurable instruments and equipment impacting the productivity of the mine’s electrical supply system, concentrator plant, open-pit, and underground mining operations, resolving issues, and testing and implementing new technologies within the specified scope.
What the role entails:
- Support the operations of the SIS, Electrical Services Department
- Collects data across multiple monitoring sources.
- Provides low level assessments on asset condition.
- Provides support to Reliability, Maintenance Engineers and Specialists.
- Communicates outcomes of monitoring data analysis with asset management stakeholders.
- Prepares asset condition and performance information to support maintenance decisions.
- Provides informal leadership, coaching, training and development to asset management team members
- Monitors compliance with the asset management system and processes
- Provides advice relating to the application of the asset management process and systems
- Metrology Laboratory:
- Quality Manager of the Metrology Laboratory
- Conduct internal audits related to laboratory operations
- Organize management review meetings and prepare reports
- Develop calculators for measurement uncertainty and adjustments, ensuring compliance with metrology operational requirements
- Provide metrology-related advice and consultation to other departments and units
- Develop training plans for internal and external metrology training, involving calibration and adjustment personnel
- Regularly participate in comparisons with national and other peer-level laboratories to maintain laboratory quality control and ensure operational quality assurance
- Identify and continuously improve the requirements for reference equipment, ensuring that “reference equipment complies with standard requirements”
- Train metrology engineer and assess their competence in performing calibrations and adjustments
- Collaborate with MASM (Mongolian Agency for Standard Metrology )
- Lead and organize the maintenance of laboratory accreditation and expand the scope of coverage based on business needs
- Perform research and engineering work for business improvement in the Electrical Services Department
What you will need for this role
- Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- Engineering degree or above
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
- Familiar to ISO/IEC17025 standard and metrology. Certain knowledge about statutory compliance requirements;
