The opportunity

We are looking for two (2) Senior Coordinator Shutdown in Oyu Tolgoi LLCOperations – Concentrator Maintenance Department based Dalanzadgad, Khanbogd or Ulaanbaatar Office and Oyu Tolgoi Site with 50/50.

Shutdown Coordinators ensure the development of quality shutdown plans that are prioritised and executable across a moderate to long term horizon. Works across spectrum of planning, scheduling and in conjunction with Reliability Engineering, Project Engineering, Maintenance Execution to coordinate shutdowns.

What the role entails:

  • DEFINE WORK
    • Identification of key shutdown drivers and high-level scope
    • Determining context and boundaries, and measures of shutdown
    • Participation in the shutdown definition meeting
    • Appointment of the shutdown management team
    • Determining key stakeholders involved in shutdown planning to execution
    • Identification of critical issues – approvals, major lead time items, resources, accommodation, etc
    • Responsible for developing the Shutdown Communication Plan and contracting procedures for shutdown team
  • PLAN WORK
    • Compiling activity list as part of the shutdown scope
    • Conducting the shutdown scope challenge workshop
    • Removal of work from scope post challenge workshop
    • Freezing the scope of work
    • Presenting the shutdown scope and budget for approval
    • Preparation of work packs
    • Coordination of external services and confirmation of material orders for the shutdown
    • Support the formal risk assessment process and opportunity analysis
    • Development of a site layout plan
  • PREPARE/SCHEDULE WORK
    • Development of the first cut schedule
    • Develop the final detailed shutdown schedule
    • Provide input/ support to the Shutdown Supervisor to review work packs with task owners and completion of pre-shutdown tasks
    • Participate in the shutdown readiness review
  • PERFORM WORK
    • Management of shutdown work, HSE aspects, change / scope management, critical issues and contingencies, and key stakeholder updates
    • Support monitoring of schedule performance
    • RECORD WORK
    • Provide input/ support to the Shutdown Supervisor in completing post shutdown tasks, capturing history in SAP, finalise contactors payment and review of their services, capture shutdown minutes
  • ANALYSE WORK
    • Prepare and conduct post-mortem shutdown review
    • Capture of key learnings and successes
    • Develop and implement of the improvement action plan
    • Collaborate with AM teams to share learnings

What you will need for this role

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Science, Engineering, Health, Safety, Environment or a relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Written and verbal elementary communication skills in English
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs
