The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Scheduler in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Underground EL and HL Construction department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster of 14 days on and 14 days off. It is replacement of maternity leave-fixed term opportunity.

The UG ELHL Construction Scheduler will be responsible for the efficient scheduling of all ELHL construction activities on a daily basis. This role ensures that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget by coordinating with various stakeholders, conducting risk assessment, and implementing best practices. They will leverage technical expertise and project management skills to facilitate communication among teams, optimize resource allocation, and navigate regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to the successful completion of underground projects.

 What the role entails

  • Develop detailed plans, schedules, and timelines for underground construction projects.
  • Determine necessary resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, and allocate them effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all aspects of project are aligned.
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during construction.
  • Review and approve regular reports made by the contractor planning teams.
  • Ensure all schedules, reports and other relevant planning documentation are stored properly.
  • Provide daily and shiftly plans to the ISS mine-planning team on a daily basis.
  • Provide 3 week look-ahead inputs to the mine plan teams on a weekly basis.
  • Review daily and 3 week look-ahead plans submitted by ELHL contractors regularly and issue confirmation of accuracy.
  • Attend all planning and scheduling meetings as required.
  • Ensure proper use of Rio Tinto workflow management system and processes.
  • Ensure continuous process improvement within the planning and project control team.
  • Track physical project life cycles.
  • Responsible for short to medium term schedule recovery and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure targets are being met or exceeded depending on operation requirements.

What you will need for this role

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant discipline is preferable.
  • At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and leading a team effectively.
  • Familiar with computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite,
  • Excellent personal time management and attitude – Positive attitude and willingness to take on challenges.
  • English and Mongolian competency in both written and oral is essential.
