The opportunity 

We are looking for One (1) Project Engineer in Oyu Tolgoi LLCUnderground Mine Development departments based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.

“The engineer project is responsible for overseeing the identification, scoping and implementation of projects that improve and enable safe development and production activities at Oyu Tolgoi underground. Along with delegation of projects and associated tasks, the mining engineer project is also responsible for completion of project related work when required. Additionally, they are to maintain frequent engagement with the various mining workgroups and departments to promote the identification and successful delivery of projects.

What the role entails:

  • Actively developing safety culture whilst ensuring that all work undertaken in areas of responsibility comply with existing safety legislation and applicable HSE standards
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets & execution plans from initiation to closure
  • Acquisition of appropriate staff, materials, and equipment
  • Liaising with contractors, suppliers and internal company stakeholders
  • Keeping the project on schedule and budget, preparing project progress reports
  • Troubleshooting problems as they arise on a project – finding efficient and effective solutions
  • Consolidate mining operations performance reporting and conduct data analysis, create action plan
  • Create consumables forecasting for mining operations, including but not limited to ground support materials, mine services, rock drills etc
  • Support with generating planning inputs and submission to medium to long range planning teams
  • Participate in technical assessments of mining equipment, providing all around support from selection to delivery and handover to operations
  • Assistance in SWP generation where required, ensuring suitable handover and acceptance of relevant project deliverables
  • Encourage active employee participation and teamwork through development, communication, good labour relations and continuous improvement.
  • Engagement of internal and external departments to ensure project deliverables meet or exceed all Rio Tinto, OT and Mongolian standards
  • Self-starting and confident to proactively and independently progress tasks without detailed directions
  • Work closely with the underground stakeholder teams to ensure that potential issues are identified early and effective solutions are implemented to resolve them.
  • Excellent time and issue management capacity with strong ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Initiate, develop and maintain effective and sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders

What you will need for this role

  • Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities preferably science, technical (engineering) or business management (project management) disciplines
  • Certifications and qualifications in project management is advantageous
  • Experience in underground mining environment is advantageous
  • Microsoft Excel and Office suite skills
  • Data analysis and data analytics tools (SQL, PowerBI etc) are highly regarded
  • Technical writing, scope of work, presentation preparation skill is preferred
  • Good English verbal and written skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities and communication skills
