The opportunity

We are looking for one (1) Principal Advisor Business Improvement in Oyu Tolgoi LLC, Underground Tactical Operations department based at Oyu Tolgoi mine site with roster 7 days on and 7 days off

The purpose of this role is:

  • Achieve and sustain ramp up to full production through the creation of tail-wind projects, supporting the operation through typical ramp up challenges.
  • Deliver a step change in performance at OT Underground through the delivery of significant, step-change improvement programs, sponsored by OT Exco/Opco, focusing on supporting and driving the ramp up of the Underground operation at OT
  • Embed a continuous improvement mentality within the underground operations teams

What the role entails

 

  • Collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and manage improvement programs targeting safe, sustainable cave development ramp up
  • Project manage the improvement programs, developing and reporting on leading and lagging KPIs
  • Lead and develop a team of Business Improvement, Management Operating System and Tactical Engineering engineers whilst strengthening the business improvement culture across all teams
  • Identify and manage key bottlenecks, opportunities and risks that may impact delivery of improvement programs.
  • Participate and lead step-change improvement programs, Lean, 6-sigma, and problem-solving projects
  • Work and collaborate with the central Business Improvement team to develop and deploy business improvement methods and tools.
  • Lead ad-hoc team members and/or consultants as required as part of a project team
  • Lead the management of change process to ensure successful delivery of the solutions in Underground

What you will need for this role

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining, Project Management, Business Administration other relevant discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience, ideally in mining, heavy industry or similar.
  • Underground experience an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years Leadership experience required.
  • 3+ years demonstrated history of business improvement and/or project management.
  • High level of written and verbal English required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate design requirements with Mongolian and international engineering businesses
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite, AutoDesk AEC, Deswik, 3D design software.
