The opportunity
We are looking for One (1) Officer Fire safety in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
The purpose of this role is to enhance fire protection standards at the Oyu Tolgoi mine by coordinating audits, conducting risk assessments, collaborating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance, and overseeing maintenance of safety systems, ultimately promoting a proactive fire safety culture and safeguarding personnel.
What the role entails:
- Support FPM Manager in maintaining and driving the D1, standard in the underground area.
- Work with current SME to develop personal understanding of the role and of fire prevention related systems and coordinate with site teams to problem solve and provide guidance regarding all aspects of fire protection.
- Organize and schedule onsite Fire standards internal and external 3rd party Audit tours and inspections and participate in debrief sessions and action assignments to mitigate non-conformities observed during audits.
- Organize, schedule and attend Risk assessments for fire related projects as SME requirement and input knowledge of hazards and control measures to accomplish a continuous improvement of facilities within the Oyu Tolgoi mine site.
- Track and drive actions and changes related to fire systems through site RTBS and Archer systems to satisfy policy changes and systems upgrades within the mining environment.
- Communicate with additional offsite company work groups such as the Copper team and COE as well as Mongolian Governmental agencies to provide input and request needed clarifications to benefit stakeholders onsite.
- Liaise with site rescue teams to integrate rescue services and protection plans.
- Liaise with site fire protection systems maintenance teams to ensure accurate and quality maintenance is being accomplished.
- Provide oversight to life saving protection devices such as Stench systems and Refuge stations to ensure they are being properly inspected and maintained.
- Work with document control team and Element, Alim, and Teams SharePoint systems to provide clarification to stakeholders and submit necessary upgraded or required audit documentation.
- Drive periodic meeting schedule where required to help keep fire protection related projects on track and engage implementers to help with any matters necessary to accomplish the team goals.
What you will need for this role
- Mechanical and Maintenance Engineers or relevant qualification is preferable. Undergraduate or equivalent or higher education obtained through degrees or diplomas from academic college or universities.
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
- A back ground in Mechanical, Mining, Fire systems, Engineering and corporate communications is advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationship at all levels
- Working proficiency in Microsoft office programs – Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel is a plus.
- Proficiency in English – both orally and in written form.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and following prescribed safe work practices
