The opportunity
We are looking for one (1) Engineer Shaft Planning in Oyu Tolgoi LLC – Underground Shaft Operations and Logistics Department based Oyu Tolgoi Site with 14 days on and 14 days off.
The purpose of this role is to develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term plans to improve operational efficiency and performance. Additionally, the role supports reporting functions and continuous improvement projects.
What the role entails:
- Optimize plant performance and reliability by analysing system operating parameters.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes related to asset lifecycles, long-term plans and safety improvement.
- Provide technical support for PM01 and PM02 scope development and execution.
- Utilize Defect Elimination (DE) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools to ensure reliable operation of fixed and mobile equipment.
- Provide engineering solutions to the support operational team.
- Participates in weekly, monthly mining planning meetings, and in technical risk assessment.
- Liase with Shaft Operations’ Planner, and Fixed Plant Team, and Tactical Integrated. Analysts Team to align departmental plans/schedules, ensuring optimized and stable Shaft operations.
- Work closely with SOUL Operations to develop work instructions for critical asset activities.
- Ensure resources are allocated wisely and utilized effectively to maintain stable and optimal operations.
- Communicate and escalate schedule and scope variances to the supervisor as required.
- Create operational reports and collaborate with reporting functions to analyse performance issues and addressing them in future execution planning for gap closure and mitigation.
- Support continuous improvement projects by planning, tracking progress, and reporting.
- Ensure information and processes are scalable and usable at both departmental and business levels as required.
What you will need for this role
- Bachelor or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 3 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training.
- Ability to analyze maintenance and performance data to improve reliability, optimize performance, implement cost-saving initiatives, and support project execution
- Capability to initiate engineering solutions to support the operational team
- Experience with database administration (SQL, PI etc.) and other database management systems
- Proficiency is using Tableau, Power BI and other reporting tools
- Having a clear understanding and experience of the SAP system will be an advantage
- Be proficient with Windows Software, in particular Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent English both written and oral.
